I'm trying to resurrect a Beolink 5000 (ebay bargain). Miraculously the screen is working fine, works OK in one way mode, batteries have been in for over a week and not flat yet. However I cannot get the two way mode to work with my 2500. Have tried the usual IR check with phone screen in video mode to check if IR is firing and both 2500 and 5000 are lighting up.
I suspect capacitors may be to blame but I have a suspicion someone had opened it before me... Does anyone have a circuit diagram or a list of the correct capacitors in case a 'screwdriver expert' has either replaced things with wrong-rated parts of put things back in the wrong way round?Given the screen works I reckon it is worth trying to fix it but without knowing what should be there I am completely in the dark!
Have you checked that the BL5000 is set to operate in two-way mode? It may have been set in one-way mode by the previous owner. This is interchangeable on the BL5000. Page 23 of the BL5000 user manual.
Press the 'dot' to put the BL5000 in stand-by. Press 'shift' to access the terminal set-up, then 'menu'. It should now say 'Terminal set-up?'. Press 'play' to accept. Press the up or down arrows until it says 'Audio two way'. The up and down arrows give other options. Press 'play' to accept and the display should say 'Terminal accept'. Press 'play' again to accept the change. It should now read 'stand.by'.
Dave.
Yes it was in two-way mode to start with. I've tried it in both modes, two-way works for some functions but always displays "no contact" in two-way mode. One way controls all my systems perfectly. I am pretty sure it is down to the SMD caps but there is always the worry that the previous person to try and fix it may have 'fiddled' with the settings. I don't have anything else two-way to check if it is the 2500 or the remote that has the problem.
It's not the end of the world but the whole point of buying it was to make use of the two-way functions like the timer!
It's a long time since I've owned a BL5000 but I do remember taking one apart once. I might be wrong but if I recall there are two PCB's - one that the screen is attached to and another smaller one. I'm sure I replaced the smaller one from a donor to fix a 2 way problem.
As they appear regularly on ebay with screen issues, perhaps it's simpler to buy one and try swapping the smaller pcb over?
If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.
That's the other plan! Also could hopefully get one with better condition back button surround and buttons than mine. Will keep looking for one, everything comes up on ebay eventually... In the mean time I'll make a list of what's in there now and visit my latest favourite website for Components; Conrad!
