I've recently added a Beosound A8 to my collection and as usual, wanted to register it online with B&O for the warranty.  I registered that fine.  I also tried to register the A8 remote but there wasn't even a dropdown for it in any section.  I contacted B&O and they have now included it in the dropdown list but I still can't enter the serial number for the A8 remote as it hasn't got an 8 digit serial number! - B&O are aware now and are working on it.  They will inform me when it's fixed.

I can't believe that nobody has informed them of this before as the remotes aren't cheap and should be subject to the same warranty as everything else.  Anyway, it is now in-hand.

This raised a question in me which is 'how many people actually bother to register their new products online?'

Dave.

The last product I bought was Beolit 15 and it was directly from the dealer. There is a note saying when bought from dealer no need to register online. It worked. I received a mail saying my Beolit 15 was registered for a three years warranty.

Yes, directly from a store - if you're lucky enough to live near one (my nearest is 2 hours away!) is easier.  Beoplay registration is simple when bought via Beoplay too but I bought the A8 new, via Amazon.

I've just had an e-mail saying it's too much work to fix it but that to register the A8 remote to use the A8 remote dropdown but use the serial number for the actual A8 itself.  I've just done it and it works OK.

Beoplay products have a 2 year warranty but if you register them online via the Beoplay website it's extended to 3 years warranty.

at this product price point the warranty application should be simple, you don't buy a Rolls Royce and then have to register for the warranty online or am I being too simplistic ?

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

Well you don't. It depends.

If you bought from a B&O store then you're registered.

Surprisingly and I'm very happy. Recently I traded in some frequent flyer points to get 2 ear set 3i and the delivery came from B&O through qantas and it had my B&O global customer number and I never quoted it. So I know it's the 3 year warranty Cool

I thought this was a great touch. I "purchased" and I didn't have to do a thing.

So obviously the delivery came from a B&O store and they looked me up to see if I was an existing customer. Good touch B&O

If I bought from an Apple Store how would they know if I was a B&O customer so it's natural that I would have to register on line Yes - thumbs up
