Hello everyone,
Been a while since I've been around here.
I had a question about the BeoLab 5 Sync cable before I go and drop 40 bucks for one. In this thread: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/thread/7111.aspx ...
Someone named "Carlito" replied that all the sync cable was, is a "crossed over" 3.5mm minijack cable. So my question is this...
I have the following: (2) total 3.5mm stereo minijack to Stereo L/R RCA cables. (2) RCA inline female to female barrels (to allow you to presumably join two shorter RCA cables for a longer run). I am wondering if I simply connect the "L" channel to the "R" channel and the "R" channel to the "L" channel which using the barrel connectors would allow me to do, if this would achieve the desired "crossover" electrically.
I know that a year ago or so I had tried this arrangement on some 2013 model BL5s that I don't have anymore and it didn't work, *BUT* I had NOT crossed over the L and R channels, but rather connected them properly. I never knew that the cable was crossed over. These are good quality cables that aren't getting any use, so I'd like to give them some use. The Lab 5s we bought used from a HiFi dealer in another state aren't here yet though, so in case you're wondering "why don't you just try it", I can't yet :)
Thank you.
No one?
Hi
Maybe I don't get point of your questions. Here my solution which still works after more then 3 years
If you are sure that you will drive your Beolab 5 in a Beo4 Mode I would recommend you to ask Steve for a proper cable or visit your next B&O dealer.
carlito: Hi Maybe I don't get point of your questions. Here my solution which still works after more then 3 years Bought a cable like this http://www.mhpcomputerservices.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/JackNick5.jpg in the requested lenght Opened the 3.5mm adaptor on one site and resoldered the left channel to the right channel and vice versa If you are sure that you will drive your Beolab 5 in a Beo4 Mode I would recommend you to ask Steve for a proper cable or visit your next B&O dealer.
Thank you! I think you just answered my question actually. If all you did was re-solder R to L and vice versa, I am fairly certain my solution will work. I mean if it doesn't work no harm, I'll just buy Steve's official cable. No audio is being transmitted through here so it doesn't need to be perfect.
Thanks!
