Hi all

I am seriously concidering diving headlong into the MP3 world with a A9 I know the colour white and legs beech. So I was given a demonstration at my local Norwich dealer, the A9 demonstrated was a Mk2 I believe with my iPhone 4 connected to the shop network.... Drop outs aplenty I'm afraid to say. After much checking on my device to confirm latest iOS software the problem still persisted. apparently the A9 could be used  directly from my board band hub so I didn't need to bother with the iPhone, is this poss? I checked the broadband speed tonight the download speed is 8.59mbps upload speed is 1.23 Mbps.  So is it worth me going for the A 9 I should mention I have a A2 and that works great. It's just the reports I have heard about the A9 which worry me

Regards Maurice

Airplay drop outs drove me so mad, I got rid of my Mk1.

Why not use Bluetooth as it is a Mk2. I'm sure it will be much better, and worth a revisit.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Hi chris

Thanks for the reply, I think it was bluetoothed in the shop and it dropped out then I think .".i have to be totally honest I struggle with the streaming / Bluetooth  thingy. God only knows what deeper and spotty stuff.

Sorry if I appear a Luddite I still yearn for the simple times you know Sellotape over the record tab for the cassette !!!! LOL

Why not consider buying a Phantom by Devialet instead your old A9 ?

It sound so much better.

The built quality is excellent.

The materials used are noble.

The technology is reliable.

Have you compared them side by side?

Hey Maurice,

I am using AirPlay to stream Tidal HiFi from my iPhone 6 to A9 Mk2 few hours daily, and it works with no problem. To that extent I have never even considered Bluetooth streaming.

Wasn't there ever any single dropout? Well maybe there was, but in all honesty I can't remember - this is how infrequent it happened (if it happened at all).

Both iPhone and A9 on 802.11n 5GHz network, using latest Airport Extreme as a router.

If Bang & Olufsen decided to save a few pennies for a cheaper Wifi module there's just one workaround:
Get an airport express and connect that via Aux-in of the A9. The airport express stations seem to be more robust in network connection than the B&O used parts.

btw: I can't understand decisions like that when running a so called luxury brand...

If it's that good, I honestly would give the Devialet a listen, too! But I'm listening to FLAC and CD and no lossy MP3, AAC etc.
And I respect them for "Made in France" instead of Czech, China...

For streaming services even a Beolit 12 or 15 would be sufficient enough.

There were some software related issues on the MKII which have now been ironed out, we alps experienced dropout using the preferred router/access points. Our showroom one now runs perfectly and with the Join feature it connects to the Moment or whatever else is playing. No need to add an AE.

Well, does it actually joins in to the sound coming from an ATV connected via HDMI to a BV???

I will test it tomorrow for you. The join feature works between the BeoVision's with ATV connected via HDMI without any issues so suspect the A9 will join too

Thanks!

That is new to me - but great news.

Another reason for migrating to NL.

Part 2.

Can I assume, that - if you e.g. swich to the tv-tuner on the BV (with the ATV) - that will be the sound, that you then hear (= join-in to) from the other NL-device?

Or is it possible to stay joined-in to the ATV, even if the active source of the BV has changed to 'TV'?

We start the music on our Moment that shares speakers with our Avant 55, go over to the A9, tap to join Deezer then turn the Avant onto a movie clip via Homemedia maintaining Deezer on the A9 Big Smile

As far as I have heard, it should - with coming update - be possible from the Moment to choose where on the NL to start the playback.

This way it would leave the BV out of the chain - and be possible to start the Moment playback even after the BV has been turned on to e.g. A tv program.
