Can you use the Beomusic App with a Beolit 15 ?
According to B&O website the answer is no.
So my next questions are :
- do you think the beolit 15 will have a software update that will bring the compatibility with the Beomusic App ? (and by the way access to the multiroom functionality !)
- do you think that B&O will allow some non B&O products (based on linux or Windows) to be accessible trough the beomusic app ?
The Essence, Moment and A9 2nd generation are supported by the Beomusic app. Not the Beolit 15.

Facel:- do you think the beolit 15 will have a software update that will bring the compatibility with the Beomusic App ? (and by the way access to the multiroom functionality !)
I would have thought it would have been introduced with it rather than add it on later. The app has been around for a while but who knows?
Sorry Dave for my 1st post but I have read the B&O website after posting
Maybe the lack of ethernet connection on the beolit 15 will prevent any integration within the beomusic app ???
Maybe the wireless connection (for stereo pairing) will do the trick ?
The ethernet connection is independant from the app. My A9 is standalone via Airplay or Bluetooth so no Ethernet connection. Why do you want to use the app with the Beolit 15? In my case with the Essence and the A9, I prefer to not use the Beomusic app as it's a pain! Just use Airplay or Bluetooth.
The one thing missing with beolit now is integration into multi-room with essence and other. But that is not the Idea with these small devices like a2, but it would be a nice addition. Kind of like the lack of wisa in essence.

As Martin said It would be really nice to have the Beolit 15 beeing integrated with multiroom function.
I do not know the Beomusic App as I don't have any A9, Essence nor Moment .. but I have ordered a beolit 15 for outside music
Anyway multiroom could also be driven by the Beosound Moment
I also would really appreciate if Multiroom could be open to other non B&O digital systems

BeoBoy68:BeoPlay customer answer me the Beolit 15 platform don't support multiroom system. Multiroom system don't support other devices from other company. It is really shame for Beo.

elephant: B&O have never really been been that flexible / open B&O are open (because they have to be to Survive) to streaming protocols. I suspect that the Toshibas /Sonys/Samsungs and Sonoses of the world also like to protect their ecosystems
B&O have never really been been that flexible / open
B&O are open (because they have to be to Survive) to streaming protocols.
I suspect that the Toshibas /Sonys/Samsungs and Sonoses of the world also like to protect their ecosystems
Ok but having the beolit 15 integrated into the B&O multiroom system should be clearly in the B&O ecosystem strategy.
On an other hand B&O must adopt standard communication protocols in order to survive into the actual Music /video world.
They must be complient with DLNA, ethernet, audio codec, streaming services, etc ... the rules are changing regarding the limit between integration with other products and protecting your ecosystem.
I will never buy a sonos product simply because it's a "too much" closed solution

In the 'olden days' these things were called: CD-A format, CompactCassette (with diverse noise reduction systems), vinyl (incl RIAA), FM radio standarts, VHS system etc. etc.
Nothing changed there - just new technologies.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Today new technologies are mostly communications (= integration) technologies
In the olden days new technologies were autonomious/isolated system only (that s why B&o with master link protocol was well ahead ..)
Today If you want to do business into audio and video world you can not imagine lauching a new product line that will not be able to be "connected" ... to other equipments (Smartphone, internet, nas, ..) and use external ressources (NAS , DAC, Amplifier, PC , Mac, Internet services, etc ..)
@Facel
Apple has been doing well practicing that!
For B&O - of course - it is another cup of tea.
Which does not mean, that they must open all their protocols to everyone.
What is it that you are missing?
Millemissen: @Facel What is it that you are missing? MM
To me 2 things are missing :
- Integration of the Beolit 15 into the B&O multiroom
- Integration of a non B&O usb DAC into the B&O multiroom

1: The BeoLit 12 was changed from network to bluetooth (BeoLit 15) for more convenience and portability.
What you miss is a 're-surrection' of the BeoLit 12, then.
Personally I would wish for a 'new' BeoPlay A8.
Might all be possible, but I don't think it will.
Maybe they don't want to, or maybe the couple of guys in Struer just haven't had the time yet.
2: Please explain a bit more, what that would be?
Facel:Integration of a non B&O usb DAC into the B&O multiroom
1) The beolit 12 was Airplay Only that is why I did NOT bought it
2) I would like to be able to have any Non B&O DAC + amplifier integrated into the multiroom
that could be done by B&O by integrating a Standard windows PC or by providing a B&O Box
running window or linux that would accept a usb dac
elephant: Isn't that option the other way around ? ie B&O to publish the NL protocol, and the OEM DACs to comply ? Or did you want a B&O black box with a digital output to USB or TOS connection ?

ie B&O to publish the NL protocol, and the OEM DACs to comply ?
Or did you want a B&O black box with a digital output to USB or TOS connection ?
Yes you are wright
That option could be done in several ways
=> having B&O publishing it's NLprotocol
=> having a B&O black box with usb connection , but in this case the Dac drivers shopuld be compatible with the b&O Black box that leads to have either a Microsoft or Mac Os inside the box
=> A coaxial or toslink connection could also do the job , but my priority order would be Usb 1st, Coaxial 2nd, toslink 3rd because in this order you find more quality /options in terms of Bit and Sampling frequencies
I was in an official B&O store in Denmark two weeks ago with my Beolit 15, the guy in the store told me, that soon there'll be an update, so you could connect more Beolits.
Edit: Already mentioned somewhere else on this forum, sorry.

@BeoBoy 68
Do you know what is missing inside the BL 15 in order to be Multiroom compatible ?
Facel:Do you know what is missing inside the BL 15 in order to be Multiroom compatible ?
There is only a bluetooth chipset from CSR inside. B&O´s Multiroom protocol a.k.a. NetworkLink is based on TCP/IP and would therefore require at least a wifi or eth phy chipset...
thanks for this important information
I suspect that B&O will announce a new Beolit in the coming monthes with multi room functionnality.
If I am right I wonder if B&O has a deep obsolence strategy or if they have a 6 months roadmap vision for their products
