I have a set of .BeoLab 8000 speakers that has no sound. I have checked for foam rot and did not see any. it appears that all woofer drives a on of the treble is out. There is no ohm value (open) when checked. Took a look at drives and there was no magnet wires connected to studs. Plus 2 of the cones were torn. I connected a cheap Radio Shack speaker to pins of P6 terminal on board 2 and there was sound. My question is before I buy new drives and install them what can or should I check to insure that I don't blow these drives. Also, is there anyway to repair the drives or is it best to to buy new? These units were given to me this way so I don't know what happened. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
gary
Hi,
I suggest buy new speaker. and to ensure it will not blown the new one. make a dc measurement in the output make sure no dc out put using multi tester in normal circuit there is no dc output in the main amplifier output. it should only be a/c signal. and to ensure the amp. is still in good condition make a resistance test for a leakage in the circuit.
