When the b&o dealer tells you that it would be cheaper to buy a new beoplay a2 than repair it.

Hm, what was wrong with your BS3? The touch panel?

Made my day.  My touch pad on the top has just stopped working too so I'll also have to get creative.

Dave.

creative solution... but sad on the other hand.

Are touchpads still availabe? Battery is the smallest problem. Maybe some of your genius users here (Yes, I'm looking at you, Beomotion, Pinter75, Beojeff etc.!) :-) are able to offer a replacement solution. Perhaps a mechanical wheel instead of the touch wheel....

There was a thread a while back, where a Bluetooth module was fitted and a new matrix display. And it looked really good.

They also fitted new top plate with a reconfigured button set up.

Half a year ago they were still available...

Do you mean something like this? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71hi5tvmzYL._SL1500_.jpg

Would be possible but requires either a second MCU or some SW hacking if you want to keep the original functionality.
Will get back to this if there comes the day my BS3 isn't working any more... ;-)
