Hello all

I have today been configuring my essence remote in automation mode so I can control my moment room.

I don't know if this is normal but the turn part of the essance is almost impossible for me to turn.

Is this normal or is there a setting to reduce force needed.

It has always felt quite tough but now it is very very tough and I cannot turn it without. Force.

Any thoughts?

The plate it's in must be the problem. Mine is just on the wall without a plate and the wheel virtually spins if I blow on it - it's that free and easy to turn. There is no resistance at all.

Dave.

That's not right then is it?  Has it been OK before or has it always been stiff to turn?  As I say, mine's effortless and silky smooth.  This stiffness problem has been raised in another thread I think but seemed to be isolated.  It will still be under guarantee so I'd take it to your dealer and get him to look at it. A rogue bit of dirt or dust may be the cause and a simple procedure may clear it.

Dave.

There's a recall on that problem.

Check your dealer.

Maybe it doesn't like your taste in music and is being passive aggressive about it? Crying

You can take apart the remote and remove a rubber gasket that surrounds the wheel. It is most likely already wrapped around the wheel and ground into it preventing the wheel from moving freely. If your dealer allows you to keep it, you can remove the gasket and it will spin freely again and be able to use it once again without issues.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Will it rotate with the same resistance as originally intended or is it very sensitive/loose after removing that rubber gasket? Are there pictures/videos of the Essence innards?

It should rotate looser than originally intended. Some like it more, some like it less. I have seen a few that maintain their factory level of resistance, but most likely due to the fact that there was rubber gasket still stuck somewhere in rotation.

Well my replacement is ordered.

This will be fun until the next time it locks up.

You shouldn't have anymore troubles. Production has corrected the issue. Take apart your current remote, remove the shredded gasket and enjoy a secondary remote. :)

Today I looked at the active round wall plate for solid wall and drywal. The solid wall is deeper and more expensive for some reason.

Stb sell a convertor to use the essence on the active backing plate.

Anyone used a normal drywall one as I could only knock off plaster in a circle rather than take big chucks of brick out.
