Hi, does anyone know if the extra speaker kit provides 2 way communication with the MCP6500?, also if sound quality wise it would be better to connect the speakers (Beovox Pentas) to a BL Passive and use a Beo4

Just checking before I start wiring up!

The plan is that the BM6500 will be in a cupboard in a another room to the speakers, I have both the extra speaker kit and the BLPassive but haven't decided which one to use - if the speaker kit is two way and the sound the same as the BL Passive then i will use that and save the passive for another room.

I have used one in the past to provide two-way from BL5000 to BC9500, so two-way definitely works.  It was also very useful to relay lighting commands between rooms.

And if you used the passive how would you control the BM6500 at all?  You would need a MCL/ML converter, plus associated IR sensor.  I see no advantage in using the passive.

Thanks, I have a Beolink Active that plugs into the Passive Amp - so would be able to control it but not have two way comms - do you think the BL active would have better sound than the X-tra speaker kit?

If these are the only speakers being driven then I think that the Xtra Speaker kit will be just as good.  However, if there are other speakers already connected to the BM6500 then you may want to add the Passive in order to get independent volume control in that room.

The BL Active/Passive won't give you 2-way control.

Go for the X-tra kit.

As for better sound... - I doubt it.

But why not just try out your options!

P.S. Just use the Active/Passive-combo with another set of speakers in another room ;-)

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Thanks both - I'll go for the extra speaker kit in my main room as there aren't any other speakers connected to the BM6500 and use the other for some speakers in my bathroom - it will be pretty cool to be able to use the MCP in the same room as the Penta's

Thanks again
