Yesterday I acquired a Beosystem 1 cabinet (2161), which I spotted at a garage sale for a pretty much throw-away price. It needs a bit of cleaning and care to get it looking up to snuff as it had been sitting in a garage and storage for years. In addition to a build up of dust and grime on the interior shelves, there are a quite a few scratches on the top black exterior finish (which I don't mind) and some minor ones on the aluminum panels. But everything works decently well -- all the aluminum panels are connected, flip down, have their door mechanisms and springs. Though a couple close without the slow-smooth action.
The large lower panel, though, is attached by only three, plastic trim clip fasteners, there are holes for 5 of them, but two are missing. I've attached a pictures of one of them for your reference below. Being a car guy, I can tell that these are automotive interior trim clips, but never having owned one of these cabinets before, I can't tell whether these were used by the previous owner as a replacement for whatever the original ones were, or not.
So my questions are as follows:
What size are these trim clips, so I can order them myself from an automotive supply house.
If these aren't the original way this panel was attached, how was it attached?
Does anyone on these forums have any of these extra parts lying around that they'd care to share with a fellow beoworlder.
Yeah add me to the clips wanted list please...
Is anyone techno savvy enough to have a 3D printer and get some of these made, I need some too

I take it from your post that these are the way the panel was attached originally, with these white clips?
Yeah I have the same issue with a BeoSystem 2 panel, the clips are old/broken.
I measured the stock plastic pieces, and found an auto supply house which apparently had a few with similar dimensions. They certainly are automobile trim clips. The ones I received from the auto supply house are green, but they fit and work for keeping the aluminum plate on!!! If I have time later tonight I will take a picture. I'm sure they're commonplace, just finding the ones with the right measurements is the tricky bit. They appear to be closest to mercedes benz trim clips.
Be sure to order ones with a small and large head (only two heads!!!), stem diameter doesn't matter, but overall length should be at least 15mm.
Brilliant, HWMBO works in Automotive, so will get him onto it and post anyt further details/part numbers etc
Finally got some time to take pictures:
First the pictures of the original clip (white) and the newly ordered green ones (from an automobile parts supplier):
Now the picture of the Cabinet front, after some good old elbow grease to clean up the panels:
The back panel (not pictured) is held on by some random screws that I found in my tool chest. I don't have the originals from B&O. Now, if anyone can help track those down, I'd be very grateful!
Sal,
I have the same issue. Do you know the actual name of the "green clip" you got from the auto parts store. I need to get more of these clips.
Thank you,
Anthony
Since I purchased them a while back, here's the information I could gather from the label on the plastic bag they came in: "Door Trim Panel Clip Nylon Interior Retainer / Mercedes-Benz / Mitsubishi"
Nice find and fix Sal.
