My local dealer and I are currently looking at wiring and set-up options for my new flat (which will have the BeoVision 4-103 I've just bought). I'm hoping that I can somehow incorporate a quadraphonic turntable into the system — this is something I've posted about before and it may be a bit of a pipe dream, but it would be nice if it could happen.

My current turntable (Beogram 5500) and cassette deck (Beocord 5500) feed into a Beomaster 5500, which is connected into my BeoSystem 3, which sends the signals to my speakers (BeoLab 10 centre, BeoLab 5 fronts and BeoLab 3 rears, though I may be upgrading the latter to Lab 9s). I've had a few discussions about whether it is possible to digitise quadraphonic signals so that the BeoSystem 3 can assign the correct channels to the correct speakers, but there is no obvious solution.

Would it therefore be possible to connect the four outputs from my quadraphonic amplifier (I currently have a Beomaster 3400, though I could upgrade to a Beomaster 6000 4-channel) directly to the speakers? Can active speakers like the Lab 5s, Lab 9s and Lab 3s accept an amplified input? And could we still make the other connections required (BeoSystem 3 to fronts and rears, plus BeoSound 9000 directly to the Lab 5s)? Finally, is there any significant difference in sound quality between the Beomaster 3400 and the Beomaster 6000 4-channel?

Thanks for any help! If this can be pulled off, I will probably have the only B&O setup in the world incorporating both a BV 4-103 and a quad turntable…
