So I just hooked up a Beogram 1600 that was at my parents condo in florida - it had not been powered up in 28 years (since they bought the place) - due to a parental mechanical dis-functionality. The table appears to actually have never been used - stylus cover in place and stylus brush without any evidence of dust. Shipping it to Maine (FedExp fragile packing and shipping) the top metal plate around platter was dislodged. Putting it back in place resulting in sticking around the 3 position toggle control switch. The plate does not appear to lock down it just kind of wedges in. All functions work perfectly except that the platter never shuts off. The sound from the MMC10E is great (hooked to full Adcom system). But, I am concerned with this issue of the platter not shutting off after the arm goes to the standby position. I have the turntable connected to a separate power strip so that I can shut it off when not in use. Any help with how this switch works or how to access this toggle mechanism would be really appreciated. Also any idea how to lock down the top plate would also be helpful.
Thanks - Andy
