Hi!
I am looking at buying a pair of BeoLab 4000's Mk2 and a BeoLab 11 from the UK, if the power supplies are universal and they will work with a new power cord in the US. I know this is probably a more expensive way to go, but I think this is the only way to get them both in the color that I want. Does anybody know if the power supplies for the UK units will work in the US?
Thanks!
Mark
Hi Mark,
The BL11 input is rated 100-240V 50/60Hz so will be fine with just a replacement power cable.
The situation with the BL4000 mk2 is a little confusing. The rating stickers on UK type 6643 speakers show 220-240V 50/60Hz, but the specifications state 100-240V 50/60Hz and indeed there is only one PSU part number available across all markets.
The service manual for the BL4000 mk2 states the following:
"There is several type numbers for BeoLab 4000 MKII, however, this is only due to market approvals. All types can be used on all markets with 100 to 240 V (ac) mains voltage."
Conclusion - you should be fine to import both and just replace the mains cables. Do ensure though that the BL4000s you buy are indeed mk2 (Type number 664x) as the same does not apply to the BL4000 mk1.
Kind Regards,
Martin.
Thank you Martin!
I can't believe I am considering this! I recently purchased a new pair of BeoLab 4000's on eBay in silver, and a very good condition BeoLab 11. It sounds very good, and very close to my BeoLab 14's which sound a little fuller. I wished I would have had the money years ago to buy them in red, but I didn't even think about it then. I'm sure I'll be spending a lot more money now, but it would look really nice and sound great to me now! I hope that I can get them! (And then give my silver's to a friend!)
Couldn't you just change the covers on the BL11 to change its color rather than having to get a different one? Cheaper as you'd only need the 4000s.
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Are the panels for the BL 11 still available? There is probably a better chance they may be available in the UK, but I don't think they are available (at least in red) in the US...
According to the user manual, the shell is not meant to be removed by the user. This may be why I never see them as a replacement part.
"Leave it to qualified personnel to remove the shell as the subwoofer may be damaged in the process."

Likewise, you could also change the casings on your BL4000s to a different colour if you wish - I'm pretty sure these are still available to order from B&O (although I'm not sure on cost).
The curved 'front' part just unscrews, but the two end plates are attached with very strong double sided tape, so forget about trying to save the old ones as you will destroy them when you pry them off.
Everyone,
Thank you for your replies!
Aaarrrgh! I must of panicked. I decided against going this route for some reason. I've been day dreaming how much better my life would be with red BeoLab 4000's and a red BeoLab 11. Everything would be different, I would become popular and my hair would grow back! But BeoShop never returned any of my inquiries, and I was close to calling them. I then wondered if the BeoLab 17's should be considered instead. I know once I order them, B&O will put them out in red.
Looking at the European orices (without the VAT) it looks like it may have come down in price a little, which would be very good! With hope, I called the nearest B&O store (not very close) and my heart sunk when I heard the new price, over $4700. I thought long and hard about this and decided to order them. I have much anxiety over this purchase, especially this much for a bedroom system! I will have to wait 3 weeks or so to get it since I am getting the red grills!
My hair isn't going to grow back now, is it???
Now I really wish that Erina Mano was on a better label!
