I have purchased a number of b&o products over the years and have always been highly satisfied until now. I currently use an Essence which worked well until the end of August when the beomusic software was updated . Using an android tablet i lost access to my music on both my tablet and laptop. I contacted my local b& o retailer and as usual received excellent service. This week yet another update to beomusic i thought this was at last a solution to my problems but no it made matters worse i now have access to musuc on my laptop but ifi switch off when listening the system switches itself back on sometimes and other times it goes back to tunein radio. In addition the icons on my favourite tunein stations have disappeared. At the moment no one can tell me if and when the errors wil be resolved. I am left with a verty expensive internet radio and spotify player. How can this happen does no one ever test the software updates before they are released . The excellent service of your nottingham store and more importantly your customers are being let down by useless software and a total disreguard to the quality you claim in your advertising . B&0 used to be a watchword for quality but sadly it is no longer the case i feel that this will be my last B&O pruduct.
I have contacted beocare and they were less than helpful stating that they were only the supplier they would not allow me to speak to anyone so much for service, and I only managed to get to speak to someone by making an expensive call to DenmarK. I have been unable to use the features of the Essence for 2 months and yet they continue to sell the model advertising all the android features

You are talking quality as opposed to Quality ?

Perceived Quality is all very well if the product functions faultlessly. However, the software/function of an expensive product requires an expensive team to develop it. We had this issue with our Beolit 12, now replaced with a 15. It only ever worked hard wired and we got a refund, because the catch on the door broke. Now we have Bluetooth that works but an inferior Quality leather strap and no IR. It went down market by £200 with the Beolit 15 , because AirPlay failed us ?

I'd assume the Essence does all it claims to do and am considering it for our house rework but wonder if it'd be a disappointment .

In your case, the Essence is turning into a poor product.  As a whole, it is actually quite a good product as shown by the many, very satisfied users.

When my Essence (MkI) works it is great but when it doesn't, it isn't.  Obvious really.  Most of the time it operates really well and I'm pleased with it.  On the occasions it hasn't operated properly, it has actually been a problem with my iPad Air operating system (a hard restart of the iPad fixed it), a problem with my WiFi router or, it's been an issue with Airplay.  It wasn't B&O's fault that Airplay has its problems, nor that my WiFi is rubbish.

We expect everything to work seamlessly and flawlessly no matter which operating system (and their many updates) are thrown at it.  B&O have not been on the ball with a lot of software related issues - Essence, S3, A9, Avant etc and it is to their shame but I understand how difficult it must be to keep pace with advancements to other connected devices.

Depending on what you want to do with your Essence, connectivity, multi-room etc, it may still be worth considering.

Dave.

Is it therefore an on/off switch on the wall and no more ?

Hi. May I ask what do you mean?

The manual shows that you can play music from your collection? How are you trying? Via the beo music app? Or streaming by your laptop to the essence?

Software is a very difficult issue.

B&O product, phone, tablet, pc, nas etc.... Lots of possibities for problems Smile

So after complaining and making it a B&O issue (who knows?), why not ask for help here?

This forum might be able to support you, not all dealers have an IT background Wink

So, willing to help, where can we start!?

Ralf

PS: having a closed world (back when you had your quality) instead of having to intervent with others makes "delivering quality" more difficult.

As long as the Original Poster remembers that we are fans and friends.

We are not in any official sense part of B&O - if what he wants is an official complaint, an official apology, and an official refund then he should keep trying the B&O Care channel.

Sometimes if you are using the BeoWorld App it is not moderation but a race condition between messages which results in one being lost

It's appeared now so all is well. I had a confirmation from the moderators confirming the inclusion so it was moderated rather than lost.
