Hi,

I want to use a Beolab 7-2 with a non B&O TV. Now I'm not 100% sure if I should just use a cable (from our sponsor of course) from the headphone out to the Beolab 7-2 or if I should go for standalone remote control of the Beolab 7-2 with the help of a Beolink Converter 1611 or s.th. like this.

I have another B&O soundsystem in the living room which I do NOT want to use for TV.

So the Beolab 7-2 should be controlled without activating the Beosound.

How can I achieve that and how would you do that?

@TWG

Note: usually the sound quality coming from a headphone-out is regarded as inferior!

Personally I would (if the tv has ARC - audio return channel via HDMI) use an HDMI audio deembedder like this:

http://www.lindy.co.uk/audio-video-c2/converters-scalers-c105/audio-spdif-analogue-dacs-c106/hdmi-4k-audio-extractor-de-embedder-with-arc-mhl-p8542

and the second solution from above or simply an older BeoMaster.

The problem though, is that you will have (at least) two remote controls, since you will have to control the volumen via a Beo4/BeoLink1000.

Please report back how you end up using the 'non B&O'-tv and the BL7-2.

Thank you four your help!

@Millemissen:
I don't know if the TV has an ARC feature, have to look into the manual (yes, there are men that have a look into user guides) ;-)
But the TV has a optical out, too. According to your tip, I better use that instead of the headphone output.

I want to solve the 2 remote controls problem with a Lintronic box.

Can the Beolink active be programmed into s.th. like a link mode or an option setting (I don't have experiences with those boxes)?

If it is set to TV or reacts to TV commands, the Beosound should stay off, right?

Hi TWG,

the problem with using the optical out may (?) be, that you run into sound delay problems - some tv's have settings to avoid this.

And you won't be able to control the volume without some kind of preamp (e.g. a BeoMaster or the Active Link-box).

But if you want to use a Lintronic solution anyway, you might find a solution to the 'multi-remote-problem' there too.

I am not aware, that the Active Link-box can be used as a standalone solution (as the drawing from Peter Pan suggests). I used the Active-box (with an external source connected to the 'PC' port) a couple of times, but it was always connected to the ML-setup as well. You can put the Active-box in option 4 (and use the 'Link' command) in order to avoid conflicts with other B&O gear nearby.

There is a solution with the old BeoLink Converter ((1611 in EU). You have to activate a video source (TV) to get that to work, as far as I remember. Maybe others can explain the use in details (or try searching on Beoworld for it).

There was a topic on this last week I think.

If your TV supports ARC then this is the solution you want to have:

Hi,

@Millemissen:
I didn't consider the potential delay problem, thanks for clearing up my mind. But your's and Peters suggestion makes me think about the idea, that the Beolink active or the 1611 can replace the role of the old video master (= B&O TV). I could plug in the Beolink XXXX into the old masterlink cable and it should activate itself only if I press "TV" on the remote (Beo 4...). Than I only need an IR-eye for the beolink XXXX.
And I can use the powerlink output to safely drive the Beolab 7-2. Am I right with this idea?
I have a Beolink active, 1611 and Beoport lying around. Maybe I can use one of those

@Beomotion:
yes and I think I participated on this discussion, too. ;-)

Maybe the moderators can put the two threads together for future users with the same problem!?

A simple solution would be to find one of the AV7000 units that were only sold to the US market. The box is attractive and reasonably sized for a BeoSystem. It looks just like a BeoMaster 7000. This would only accept analog sound and not digital sound, though. The BeoSystem 1 units are selling cheaply around $300 USD and would accept the digital sound. However, those things are monstrously ugly, huge tanks!

Thanks!

I forgot that ;-(

That is the (easiest) way to go.

Hello again,

I've tested the Beolink active and the Beolink converter 1611. Both have SW 1.1

- Beolink active: Works after soldering the cable that Peter Pan showed in the picture! Thanks! This works very well with "Link PC" command. Only thing getting used to: Press "Link PC" to listen to "TV" ;-)

- Beolink Converter 1611: reacts to "TV" command when connected to BS3000 but it does NOT output audio on the Powerlink output. Is there a trick to configure this thing? I don't want to have switched on the speakers connected to the BS3000. I only want the Beolab 7-2 attached to the Beolink converter activated if I press "TV" on the remote.

Any solution?

@Millemissen: As you love the Playmaker, does it automatically swich on the speaker if it senses a Line-In signal (not Airplay or DLNA)?
