Hi all, I'm hoping you can help with an issue I'm having?

I have just purchased a 'new, old stock' Beocord 5500 as a second tape to go with my Beosystem 5500. If I play a tape in the new deck, side one plays fine, sounds good and auto-reverses as expected.

The problem is that the reverse side sound levels are really, really quiet. Almost like the tape has 'dropped out'. Originally I thought that maybe some of my tapes were suffering from age but today I tried an experiment and swapped the tape into my original tape deck, set them to play in reverse and they sound great.
The problem is definitely with the new 5500 deck.
I'm told by the seller that the deck had new belts and was serviced prior to shipping, but given that the same head playing in both direction (and going through the same components) on this machine, I'm stumped!
Any thoughts welcome! Any good videos on how to properly clean the heads welcome too (in case it's a simple thing). I'm not an expert, and historically I've used automatic cleaning tapes but I can't find them nowadays in the UK...

Sounds like the heads are out of alignment. Probably the azimuth.

I believe the instructions for setting azimuth are in the service manual but you'll require the correct tools...

Thanks Lee, I'll take a look at the service manual!

Any idea where I can get tools from?
