I would like to purchase an AppleTV4. Today I have the Apple TV3 which is connected to the TV with HDMI cable and I use the optical output to run get the Audio signal into my Linksystem with a Converter NL/ML.
I would like to now connect a Apple TV 4.
Following questions I have:
1 Can I operate the new Apple TV with my Beoremote as on the Apple TV 3?
2. How do I get the Audio signal into my Link Converter?
Appreciate any help and tips on this one.
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
2. Or use an HDMI Audio Extractor like this:

Interesting idea! But how will this interfere with HDCP copy protection and the sleep/wake over HDMI? Perhaps it is totally invisible but its worth considering. I am not sure if Apple TV sends PCM 2.0 or if it is more channels even for stereo sound (it overlays its own sounds over a playing track, so it might very well be more channels at least sometimes).
Thanks for the quick answer. Can you please help me with number 1 and give me some hints. My dealer can't help since he tells me that the new Apple TV works with Bluetooth rather then I fares and I can't use my Beo remote.
Yes, you can (with the usual puc-solution) - there are several posts here on this.
(Let your dealer read these!).
But - of course - you can't 'swipe' and use Siri...
Thanks vor all the help. I can confirm now that the Apple TV4 works with the same PUC and sensor as the TV3. I just connected the cable and it worked. Also the sound is passed rthru the Beovision Avant into the Nl converter into my link system in my house. Excellent if you use Apple Music.

1. When I got the new Apple TV 4 i simply just replaced the PUC IR-eye from the Apple TV 3, and just put it over ruffly the same spot on the Apple TV 4.
Still use the Apple TV 3 software. It works. The Apple TV 4 can tell if the Apple remote is active or not. Easy to use.
But I hope the Apple TV 4 will get new software soon. Because it has som big problems.
