Hello all I'm new to the forum so firstly I apologies if this is posted in the wrong place.

i bought the B&o s8 a couple of months ago now and to be honest I've had nothing but problems. when working they sound great however the connection hub to connect to my tv has been a right pain.

the first connection hub I had changed volume when it wanted the volume would jump all the way to the top or just mute itself or gradually turn it up or down, this would happen constantly I couldn't watch tv without it happening at least every 10 minutes. Anyway fast forward to now my dealer replaced my connection hub and I've got the same issue all be it not as bad sometimes you can go a full day without it happening others you can watch a program and it will do it every 10 minutes.

I have it connected to a Samsung plasma TV however i was planning on buying a Philips ambilight tv (I know you guys will say I should get an avant or something however I don't have crazy deep pockets)

The only things connected to my tv are Apple TV and an Xbox one so no sky or virgin etc.

it would be great to hear if anyone is experiencing the same issues or has any other idea how I can connect my s8 to the tv without this connection hub. Oh the other thing I have done is connect the s8 to my tv with just a audio jack however I get lots of white noise/static at low volume and that kind of defets the purpose.

any help appreciated as I'm almost at my whits end with it.

thanks

That's a shame as the s8s sound great.

If the set up does not work. Why not ask the person who sold it to you to help?

They have been more than helpful however I think they have came to the end of helping, they have offered a refund on the full system, however I would rather get it working.

they have even came to the house to check the set up etc, I'm just trying to see if there is another avenue to connect the speakers to my tv without the connection hub, even something I can hide like a Bluetooth receiver or a small connection like the hub.

forgive me for my lack of knowledge on the subject though that's why I'm here I really don't know about how it works or what other way I could connect it

There are some known issues with plasma-tv's and ir (infrared/remote signals) interferencing.

Would it be possible for you to try the S8 with another (LCD-) tv, just to be sure if it maybe is the plasma, that causes the problems.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Thanks for your reply, I didn't know that.

ive just hooked the s8 up to a new Philips tv that we bought for downstairs I'm just trying to update it as it doesn't work with Apple TV so hopefully once that's sorted I can run some tests.

Surely the ever so helpful dealer should have been aware of possible Plasma interference?

Most likely from QVC and the host called them B8's #goodluck!

There was a software issue with the initial connection hubs. Please contact www.return.beoplay.com and arrange a swap under warranty.

Thanks for your replys

i was aware of the first connection hubs issues as I had to wait a week to get my first one as they only had the speakers in stock.

i can't fault the help they have gave me I don't have a bad word to say, but if it is the plasma interfering that is a bit rubbish as I've gave them my tv model number etc.

im afraid I didn't buy it online or on "qvc" as you say it was bought from bang olufsen merchant city Glasgow

Note: I did not write, that the plasma (interfering) is the cause of your trouble.

But it would be something, that I would test as soon as possible.

I am very curious the hear, what happens, when you have connected the S8 to your Philips LCD-tv.

I done some short tests with the Philips tv and the hub worked as it should. I forgot to mention in my first post that when using the Samsung plasma TV when changing volume it was very delayed in changing, I would also get a warning on screen "not available" that would come up any time I change volume.

on the Philips however as I say works fine, volume goes up and down as it should and no warning messages and uses on screen volume bar as you would expect. No deviation in volume like when using the plasma. I've since ordered another Philips to all be it smaller for this room to further my tests as the Samsung was due to be replaced anyway.

Well I've replaced my tv to a similar model to the one I tested my s8 on, however "similar" is the key word.

ive overlooked the key important fact that the remote for this one is Bluetooth, so it will not connect to the connection hub. Silly me.

anyway my next question would be. If I was to buy a beosound essence would I be able to connect that to my tv in any way instead of the connection hub I have. Thanks
