After many years my dream has come true and just got hold of a preloved Beocenter 2. It didn't work in the beginning and the used dealer exchanged the socket unit so it is now able to process DAB. The head unit is serial number is 21738518 and the socket unit serial number is 18292251.

I scanned for DAB last night but it found none. I used a telescopic DAB aerial from Maplins and also tried the digital TV aerial installed in our house earlier this year  but no luck. No DAB stations found.

I know B&O sell their own DAB aerial for Bc2 but I doubt it's still available. AerialsandTV.com specialise in aerials and sell DAB specific ones.

Does anyone have a Beocenter 2 and what DAB aerial do you use?

Are the units sold to me DAB ready (based on serial numbers) as the previous one he supplied wasn't and he didn't know until I pointed it out to him? I have no way to check as I cant check on the B&O register.

Any experience or advice would be much appreciated.

I doubt it is the aerial per se. I think it is likely there is a fault in the socket unit ? either set up is wrong or there is a fault. I have a DAB BC2 and it works fine with a basic wire aerial.

Managed to order the official aerial and if it still doesn't work I will have to get a refund.

The supplied DAB aerial terminates in a simple wire 'T'. The top of the 'T' needs to be vertical. I found that my DAB aerial was very sensitive to location, receiving no stations at many room positions. It now works successfully taped out of sight behind some furniture, in a room with a window facing the distant BBC transmitter.

I should add that we have a small PURE DAB portable radio with telescopic aerial that works in the rooms where the BC2 aerial couldn't pick up a signal!
