I have a (beloved) BEOLab900 CD Player connected to Penta 3 active speakers.
I would like to make them Wifi compliant and think of connecting a Media Streamer to the AUX jack.
Does anyone has done this before? Can you recommend this? What are the pro and cons in your experience?
Thank you in advance for your helpful feedback. I am not experienced in Audio tech-language, so please make it understandable for a newbie ;-)
Hi Suma. Welcome to beoworld.
Yes, plenty of us have connected streaming devices of one sort or another to the aux input on the BeoSound 9000.
Other than needing to press a button on the BS9000 (or its remote) to turn the system on before you can stream music (which has never bothered me, but some people seem to dislike this) I can't think of any downsides.
What streaming unit do you have in mind? There are certainly plenty of options these days, both B&O and third party devices.
Whatever you choose (as long as it has analogue audio outputs), Steve@SoundsHeavenly will be able to supply you with a suitable cable.
Kind Regards,
Martin.
I use the CD input on my BM6500 as I dont have a CD - this is connected to a DAC and from there an old Apple TV using the touslink out - The Apple TV is hardwired to the router. With this setup I can stream from my iPhone or remote control the ATV using the remote app - works brilliantly and the only outlay was the cost of a DAC so I bought a good one. Advantages are that it sounds great and I can hear it all over the house, downside with this particular setup is that you cant stream different music to different rooms, but as I live alone that's not a problem, and my friend who has an Android, cant stream to it.
There are of course loads of other options, just giving you an idea of one that is in use - the favoured option I guess would be to just connect a playmaker to the aux input.
