Hi all
I have just bought the above from a auction pretty much blind apart from knowing its been in one family since new.
Have been looking for a turntable to play my 40 year old back catalogue of vinyl ha !
Firstly thought all was good plugged in and hey presto all actions and sound as should I thought.
But that was with a 33 LP 45 single plays to slow with the speed control set to fast ??
Also it is only playing clear sound from one speaker port, not the speaker at fault as I have swopped ports and its clear sound through both of them separately but both on together one side is poor muffled sound.
Also I've noticed the green light at the front and the speed control light are not working ?
Are these problems solvable ? or should I put it down to a bad buy and get shut ?
Sorry I am not at all techno minded as I'm sure you have guessed by know
Any help would be much appreciated thank you .
Ian.
Welcome to Beoworld !
It's 40 years old and will definitely need some kind of service by now. They all will, but it's absolutely solvable and Beocenter 1800is getting rare. Worth getting back in order.
The green light is the stereo indicator. It should likght up when playing FM radio and tuned to a stereo station (with adequate antenna signal). The red light is actually divided in two. When tuning FM stations they can help you find the center frequency (when both halvesare equally lit). When playing tape or phono both halves will be fully lit. There's no "speed" light.
Have you checked the balance control slider? Will it play FM fine in both left and right channel?
Martin
Thanks for the help Martin
checked the sound using the radio and its the same as using the turntable, poor muffled reduced sound from left ports.
your recommendations for a slow turntable ?
Would like to keep and use this if possible but I am just a humble ex grocer and a novice with such items..
you guys help will determine if its possible.
cheers Ian.
Dillen ?
Well, a general overhaul I suppose as a minimum. Capacitors, trimmers etc.All very common after four decades.Maybe a burned output stage in your case.Difficult to say without having it on the bench.
