So I have linked up my Beosound Ouverture to my Beogram 3300, but it sounds like I need to get an external pre amplifier to boost the recordplayer However, I have already got a spare Beomaster 6500. Isn't it possible to use that instead somehow?
Yes. The BM6500 has the integrated RIAA amplifier needed for the BeoGram.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
Thanks. Maybe this is a stupid question but ow do I plug it up together? The Ouveture and Beogram is already plugged in together. Where do I stick the plug from the GM6500?
I mean is a BM6500 and a Beosound Ouverture compatable?
BeoMegaMan: Yes. The BM6500 has the integrated RIAA amplifier needed for the BeoGram.
A standard BM6500 doesn't have an integrated RIAA, so unless it has been fitted with the optional RIAA amplifier, either one of those or an external RIAA amplifier will be needed to be able to use the BG3300.
@1Henrik
Which system would you like to use as your main source? Was your intention only to use the BM6500 as a preamplifier for the BG3300 with the Ouverture as main source?
/Dennis
I bought the 3 items separately thinking they would work together. I don't mind which one becomes the main source. If the BM 6500 is the main source, how do I plug the Ouverture in to it? It seems really complicated to me. And equally, if the Ouverture is the main source, I cant work out how the BM6500 can support the beogram 3300. Thank you for trying helping me. Much appreciated
I already had the Beogram but I though I needed the BM6500 to support the turntable and the Ouverture. Maybe I need to get the RIAA and then sell the BM 6500 which it appears I don't need.
Unless the BM6500 is equipped with a RIAA amp or you want to use it as an amp for a pair of passive speakers, I would say it's redundant. If you have a pair of active speakers, the Ouverture would probably be the better choice as it has a built-in CD and cassette player. What you need to be able to use your BG3300, is an external RIAA amp - preferably one that lets the Datalink signals pass through if you want to be able to control it with your remote or via the buttons on the Ouverture.
My speakers are beolab 6000. Thank you Dennis.
