Hello everyone. I recently picked up a pair of type 6623 speakers at a garage sale for $10 dollars. i had never seen a pair of B&O speakers before and knew they were something special . i would like to find out more about them and where i can get parts ie. cords.the only visible prob with them is the foam around the smaller speakers has broken up. can that be repaired? one more question. what would be a good amp/reciever to pair with them?

6623 should be a Beolab Penta 2. These are powered speakers so don't need a power amplifier though they can be attached to almost anything. The drive units can be refoamed - if they work, you definitely have a bargain! Have a look here

Hi Brian and welcome to Beoworld.
If you picked up a pair of Penta speakers for 10$ it's the buy of the year.
Info on them is widely available:

Cables are readily available on auction sites such as eBay or still from B&O - Powerlink cables. Steve at Sounds Heavenly (at the bottom of the page is one of the best suppliers of B&O cables).
Foam rot is common in speakers like these and can be fixed. Search Beoworld for speaker re-foaming or the internet. Foam or rubber surrounds are available here:

It's also worth replacing the capacitors in the crossovers at the same time.
Why not go for a system such as the Beosystem 5500? Amp, tuner, CD player from that era and nice products too. Turntable too if you want to break out the vinyl.

You've saved so much money on getting the speakers so cheap and if you do the work yourself to restore them (not too difficult if you're patient) you can spend a bit more on a nice system.
Keep us up-to-date and with pictures!

cool thanx for all the info. where can one find a beo7000system in white for sale. looked on ebay and didnt find anything. does this site have a spot where members sell used stuff?
We have a wanted and for sale forum, but you will have to be silver or gold member to get there (or post there, I´m not sure)
The 7000 systems do turn up once in a while on the bay, depending on where you are located also on local listings. White is not as frequently shown as other designs (black, aluminum)
But as Peter said, you can drive the Pentas with nearly all B&O amps
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
I came across these same speakers myself. I have them hooked up via my tv's pre outs. I also have a 7.2 receiver powered at the same time since I don't have pre outs. I have an issue though as I cannot control the volume of the speakers ". They sound amazing but they are by default too loud. Any advice? I've looked through the forums and found I'm missing a cable and they were traditionally controlled through a B/E receiver. Any help is greatly appreciated!
