Anyone know of a good contact in Zurich to help me set up / optimise my gear, tidy up the mess of wires behind my BV7, do some simply masterlinking etc?

My local B&O shop seem far more interested in flogging me new gear rather than helping with what I have, and thats when I can find someone who speaks English.

Cheers

Depends in wich part of the city you are living. Have you tried Fux AG? They are the biggest Dealer in switzerland, it think (www.fux-ag.ch). They even have the Beolab 90 in the showroom. I once talked to Marc Fux, one of the owner, he had (for me) a very good knowledge about B&O but also on other solution in combination with B&O.

If you leave more in the eastern part, you could try Dietiker & Humbel in Winterthur. I usually go to them, because i live there. They are easygoing and also very supportive.

Cheers Urs

I really cannot recommend Fux AG! They are only interested in selling new B&O stuff and not very enthusiastic if you have older B&O gear in combination with new stuff.

Try Adi Wyss www.adiwyss.ch. He was once B&O dealer and he’s a hands-on and helpful guy. I’m not sure if he’s able to communicate in English. If the problem occurs  please write me a PM and we can have a chat. I’m based in Zurich as well. I bought the most stuff at Steager in Thalwil.

I popped into Fux and also found them to be much more interested in new equipment rather than old. For example, when I enquired about a multiroom setup the suggestion was to upgrade my BV7 to a new Avant. I had to ask whether a converter would work to integrate the BV7/Beosound 3000! The response; 'ummm I think so but we would need to make an appointment to come over and have a look'.

Steager are even worse. It was difficult to find someone who spoke English and when I did we arranged an appointment for someone to visit. On the day no one arrived or even called. When I called them they claimed they came over but couldn't find my apartment (the doorbell is clearly labelled)!

I found Adi Wyss' website a few weeks ago and wrote to him via the enquiries page. Zero response!

B&O dealers are falling over themselves back in London to help to build a relationship with you for future purchases. That's certainly not my experience here. Perhaps business is so good that dealing with a non-German speaker with legacy equipment is just not worth their while.

All I want is:

-          To have the mess of cables behind my BV7 tidied up

-          To link my BV7 to by BS3000 (I even have a good 20m of masterlink cable in my cellar but I don't know how to wire the plugs at the ends)

-          Introduce a ML/NL converter and look at buying a couple of wireless speakers for the other rooms (A9/A6 or perhaps the new BS35).

I know its complete sacrilege to say this on a B&O forum but I'm extremely tempted to get rid of the BS3000, and a buy a few multiroom wireless speakers from someone else (Naim or B&W)!
