Hi.
I am about to move from the UK to the USA and need to understand and if it is worth taking my B&O system with me.
I have:
1. A beomaster 5 with hard drive
2. 2 x Beomaster 6000 speakers
3. 2x Beolab 3500 link speakers
Aware of the voltage difference from 240v to 110v and the beomaster tech manual specifies 240-110v so will step down but will there be a system degredation because of this?
None of the speakers have voltage plates on them or in their tech manuals, so are they 240-110v.
Grateful for any advice.
Regards
Martyn
I had a customer (in my paying trade) move to the USA from Switzerland and brought his Beosystem 2300 and a pair of Beolab 8000. He used the step down transformers and it worked just fine for him.
Hi Martyn,
We lived in the UK for a number of years and I bought a Beosound 3200 and BL 4000 speakers in London.
When we moved back I used step up converters and they worked perfectly well.
I decided to convert my 4000 to US 110 v which was about $ 300.
My 3200 to this date works with the step up converter without any trouble.
So, all in all you should be ok bringing B&O gear and using there.
Good luck.
Many thanks
For a little while, I also used a Step down transformer for a Beosound 9000 way back in 2001 or so, here in the States, it worked just fine. Good luck!
What part of the US are you moving to? I think there's only something like 20 or so B&O dealers in the US now sadly.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Good news. I found 23 stores in the US.
They list 23 but one of them is gone (Broadway, NYC), and one of them probably shouldn't be counted (the B&O shop in Abt Electronics).
There used to be 7 dealers in the NY Metro area. This is now.... 1.
I never tout my wares on here : but this is a bit different, and a very rare opportunity given the circumstances, which could be a good opportunity for the OP to save some money...
I've just taken in some Mk2 BeoLab 8000's - US Spec, 110v. I've never had a pair of these in 15 years!!
Happy to do a deal so you can take them with you. PM me if you're interested.

PS : If anyone is uncomfortable with me posting the above, I'll pull the post straight away : just let me know.
Off topic from the last response... but there are 2 in the immediate San Francisco Bay Area... used to be 3, then 2, then 3 again... now only 2.
actually all the audio products (correct me if i'm wrong) are switchable between 110-230-240V (example look at the service manual of the Beolab 2500, the voltage tap's just need to be changed, and if it's a switched psu (like icepower amplifiers in beolab's its just moving a jumper or fuses...)
well it's indeed expensive for converting but you must be technical, have the service manual and do it correctly or you could destroy your fine equipment

Hi, Have looked at the manuals on the Internet and they do not show how to do the above, can you point me in the right direction on finding the info.
Regards and thanks

Interesting, Austin is the city in Texas that is least like Texas, being more like it was transplanted from California. You should enjoy it though, pretty place, and the rest of Texas is fun. If you own 10 guns in California they call you a gun nut, in Texas they call that a nice little start on a decent collection.
