I have recently received a set of Beolab 4's for PC use! THEY ARE GREAT! I was hoping to get some different color grills for them. Any ideas where I could source them??
Also hoping to get some info about them. The lights on the top of the Beolabs 4's are either red or green. I noticed that one light where the controls are never really goes off but is always ON. Is this due to the AUTO setting?
THANKS
I have a pair of BeoLab 4's, though they are not currently being used at the moment. I've always loved the looks of the 4's. I bought mine last year off of eBay but I would also like to find some red grills for mine. They are hard to find. I don't know where you are located, but if you are in the US you might try giving Abt Electronics in Illinois a call, I haven't tried them yet. In the UK, the webshop beoshop.co.uk lists they have several colors in stock: black; white; dark grey; and blue. I've also seen some new and used occasionally on eBay.
I don't have mine hooked up right now but I remember the lights always being on, green while playing and red while in standby. That era of speakers had the indicator light always on, unlike the current generation where they are only on for 10 seconds or so before fading out. If I am correct about this I don't know what to make about the one that's not always on.
I should note that mine are the powerlink version that was hooked up to an Essence, so I don't know if the PC version behaves differently.
Thanks!! Would you be able to use these speakers with an essence ?
I believe so if you have the PC version of the BeoLab 4. You would need a powerlink to two minijack cable which I don't know if it is easily obtainable. Your best bet would be to check with Steve at Sounds Heavenly. You can tell him what you have in the way of equipment and he can tell you if he can supply you a cable.
We're having the Dark Grey covers available. We also have the cables to connect to a PC. If your intrested drop us an email at info@bnoservice.nl
As for the BeoLab 4 not going on standby. I retrieved this from the manual. "When set to PC, the loud speakers will not auto matically switch to standby mode when the sound signal disappears. In this case, we recommend that you switch off at the wall socket, when not using the computer."
