We are looking at buying an old farmhouse and I've been told i can have 2 speakers in the living room. How can I connect Spotify and Tunein radio to Beolab 3? How many wires are required to the Beolab 3?

Thanks.

One mains cable to each BL3.

You can switch them to Line in to feed them from e.g. a computer or Airport Express to play your sources. You then need one more wire to each speaker.

JC:

   BeoSound Essence mate!!!!

If you choose this route (and that is a good one Smile ), you can run one Powerlink cable from the Essence to one speaker and with an Y-splitter continue with a Powerlink lead to the other speaker. That way the cabling is a bit reduced. One mains lead to each speaker is still required.

If I went for this route. And say in the future decided to put some other speakers in the Kitchen and current setup in living room, would the essence be able to send the music to the kitchen? Or play something different i.e. Spotify in Living room and Tunein in Kitchen?

Can you send TV sound output to Beolab 3's in living room area wirelessly?

Thanks for the replies. Website about connectivity isn't very clear on how its actually done.

You will not be able to do that, and control the music individually in the different rooms. In that case one solution would be to get another Essence to use with speakers in the kitchen. Another solution would be to put an Beoplay A6 in the kitchen. Then you can play individually in the two rooms or play same source in sync (like party mood).

Chris Harrison:

Or play something different i.e. Spotify in Living room and Tunein in Kitchen?

No, Essence cannot distribute two sources at the same time. See above for suggested solution.

You can use B&O Wireless Transmitter and Receiver for that. Think that is a quite costly solution, but it all depends on how difficult your cabling would be.

What is the difference between Essence and Playmaker? Playmaker is much cheaper!

The Playmaker is a standalone product with (compared to the Essence2nd gen) limited options = DLNA rendering, AirPlay and a line-in connection with autosense.

If you are pleased with only having the one set of speakers (the BL3's) and you are using AirPlay from an iOS device (or a Mac), you can listen to all, that you can listen to on the device itself. You can control the volumen etc with a Beoremote or on the device itself.

However if you are aiming a multiroom setup (it seems so from your comments), you will need the Essence (2nd gen). The Essence Remote is a handy interface for quick access to your sources, the more complicated/optional controlling is done using the BeoMusic app.

There are several threads on the forum with questions and answers (!) on how to use the Essence - just have a look at these threads or search for Essence.
