hi everyone, writing from portugal. an old danish friend just gave me some B&O items, witch I will discribe:

1x beosound ouverture

2x beovox cx100

2x beolink passive

1x beogram 7000

1x beolink 1000

1x beo4

1x B&O ir receiver

1x master link cable

2x speaker cables 2din

my question is, how in the world can I set this to play in a more simple way. if possible just the beosound ouverture and the beovox speakers.

thanks in advance

Hi & welcome to Beoworld

Simplest way would be Ouverture >Masterlink cable>Beolink Passive>2dinspeaker cables>Beovox CX100

It's worth pulling the fabric frets off the CX100 to see if the cones have deteriorated. This is very common and will effect the sound but there are repair kits available.

If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.

It would actually need to be Ouverture >POWERLINK cable>Beolink Passive>2dinspeaker cables>Beovox CX100

Or else you would need the IR Eye also connected to the BeoLink Passive in order to activate the CX100 speakers.

In short, MasterLink is generally used to connect speaker in a different room to the main audio

Actually the BL Passive would have the ir-eye - if it is complete!

Apart from that, I agree with Tayne:

Use PL-out to PL-in and connect the speaker cables and powercord.

BUT - in the list above there was no PL cable mentioned!!!

So the advice from Stonk might be the one to follow.

In that case the Ouverture should be in option 0.

However this would mean, that you can't activate playback from the Ouverture.

All in all - my advice would be to buy a (short) PL cable and do as Tayne described.

Maybe some day you/jpff later could look for a couple of active/BeoLab speaker to connect directly to the Ouverture. The BL Passive, the CX100 and the MasterLink cable could then be used for making a linkroom :-)

@jpff - if you now are confused, please do write again to confirm, whether you have the PL cable and/or the ir-eye.

Enjoy your gift.

Edit!

I just noticed that you have 2 (!) BeoLink Passive - that's even better ;-))

Does '2x cx100' mean 2 sets?

To get things going best invest in a PowerLink cable - length depending on the placement of the Ouverture and the BL Passive (the amp without the ir-eye connected).

Be sure to get one of the fully wired PL cables, otherweise the amp/the BL Passive won't turn on. Best tell the B&O dealer what the cable will be used for.

Alternatively contact 'Steve at Sounds Heavenly'. He is a sponsor of this site and will be happy to assist you and sell you the right cable.

P.S. But do think of making a second room/linkroom, since you already have most of, what is needed for that.

If you have a spare pair of passive speakers, you are good to go for that also.

Thanks a lot. That's what i will do. Even if money is not exactly pairing with me at the moment,i think its worth the effort. But for the time being the living room will be more then enough to hear the beautiful B&O sound. Be free to give me inputs on my quest

PS: whats with the off button from the Beolink passive, and the output for the speakers looks 3din but cable is only 2 din.

Did you tell Steve for what, you want to use the PL cable - for the amp?

Does it make a difference?? It has 8 pins for different kind off signals. It's connected in the correct  ports. And no sound.
