Hi, l have been looking for a Beomaster to go with my beovox 1702's. I was originally after a 901 but have since read that they were part of the standard audio range and the 3000 was part of the hifi range. Is this correct and is there a noticeable improvement in sound with the 3000 over the 901?

Also in the future l may upgrade speakers to beovox 3702 or 4702/4703 so this may be a deciding factor also as l think the beomaster 901 is only about 20wrms at 4 ohms.

Any help and/or recommendations appreciated.

as far as Beomasters are concerned none of the above. The Beomaster 4000 will punch the ticket.  Then go find a set of 4702 or the S45 or S60

Beomaster 901 would be a fine match for Beovox 1702.
So would the Beomaster 3000 though it does have a little bit more power.
Beovox 1702 is a wonderful speaker for its size.

Thanks Martin for you advice, l did ask this question a few months ago and you did give me some GREAT suggestions for my 1702's however at that time l didn't know that l might upgrade to larger beovox speakers in the future so l guess l was just confirming which beomaster would be better for dual purpose duties.

Thanks, Milton.

I would go for the 901 and let it drive your 1702, when you have that running and enjoying it, take your time to to go looking for a BM 4000 or even 4400 and a pair of M70 or something like that. You will then have two very good systems each in their own way. Then maybe start thinking about going into vinyl or getting a computer connected and play high quality music files or stream the same. MP3 files and the like just dont do these wonderful amps right

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Thank you for your recommendations Soren, that sounds like a plan. I do have other vintage amps/receivers of differing brands one of which currently runs the little 1702's, but of all the different manufacturers l would really like to start concentrating on B&O and start putting together matched systems using their components.

Yes l don't use MP3 files or low quality sources, l am a bit fussy like that, l either use a CD player or tablet which has nearly all of my original CD collection on or occasionally FLAC files. Good point about vinyl, l would like to go into that at some stage.

Hi,

if space allows it, you could also try to look for a Beocenter 1400, which is a industrial design masterpiece.

Thanks Guillaume, l am not sure l need a cassette deck however l do like the extra width and design of this piece and it is based on the 901.
