Hi,

I have a beocenter 2002 with a broken tape deck. I am a little hesitant to try and fix myself as I really wouldn't know where to start without any service books or previous experience. I am located near ipswich in SUFFOLK UK. Does anyone have any recommendations of a specialist local to me? I phoned a local firm and they said they didn't really touch such old systems anymore since they do not have service manuals anymore. The system has such a lovely sound so I want to get it fixed and serviced at the same time. Any help or suggestions would be ever so greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Welcome to Beoworld!

"They don't have servicemanuals anymore" ? - Today servicemanuals are more available than ever, but it's probably
just another excuse for a repairer not having the skills, tools and experience needed.
Anyway, it's most likely a matter of replacing the belts. That's quite normal for these decks by now.

I can supply belts and mounting instructions.

Thanks Martin, that would be great, how much am I looking at and how do I arrange with you? Also, the tape deck has the stop button missing, it appears to be jammed down below the deck, I can see it when I shine a torch down there. Will the procedure allow me to sort this or is that a completely different task? I didn't want to take the back of the system in case I messed something up or something sprung out etc. Like I said previously, I am a complete novice right now. Many thanks for your response.

Hi Martin,

Further to your message back in May can you give me a price for tape belts and mounting instructions? Also, I have another small issue although it is intermittent. When I am using the record player the sound will sometimes go out on one speaker. I have tried both speaker ports on that side and they are both quiet. Sometimes they crackle and that side comes back. Is this something you can give me some advice on? Many thanks in advance.
