Hello

I would like to know if the bv7-32 mk3 has hd module like what you can add to the mk1 and mk2 versions? Or does the mk-3 come with it built in which can't be removed? I personally don't 100% know b and o won't give me an answer. Has any body on here any experience with this? The reaso being my mk3 is bust and would like to make my mk1 hd if this is possible. I will be taking this set apart myself if anybody knows where I should be looking? Any response is appreciated

Thank you

It isn't just a case of taking it out of the mk3 and putting it in the mk1, you need access to the ROS for software updates.

Technically all BeoVision 7 - 32 are HD ready, as their maximum resolution is 1366 x 768.

What you actually require for your BeoVision 7 - 32 Mk1 is the scaler module which will allow you to use the DVI input for watching television.

As a general rule, newer modules can't simply be slotted into older televisions; numerous software (and possibly hardware) updates will also be required.

I would suggest allowing a service engineer to complete the work for you in a static-free environment where he has access to all the relevant software tools for the job.

Splitting hairs.  HD Ready........ if you put a £450 board in?  Well my van is capable of doing 110 mph....... if you put a different engine in.  That doesn't mean it can be advertised as such.  MIS-SELLING.

MK1 7-32's have the potential to display HD Ready resolutions 720P/1080i with a swap out of the board

Shall we go on and say you can watch television but you can't listen to it........ without having an audio input on either AV4 or via Scart?

Service Engineers are not only males, they can be females as well.

Your dealer will either do it themselves or sub-contract.

To answer your question, only B&O Franchised Dealers and authorised service engineers have - or at least should have - access to the ROS system to be able to log on and update puts and firmware wherever possible - however it is known some resellers have also gained access improperly to this system.

I am pretty sure the HD Modules are much the same, but check first with your Dealer before performing any task.

Thank you both for your replies. I know of a tv repair place where my local b and o send there tvs for repair I shall contact them I was going to anyway I just wanted to have a better idea of what is and isn't possible as I have been told you can't do things which have actually turned out to be possible.

For example I wanted to use a beolab3500 as my speaker for my bv7 only to be told by b and o the tv had to have a centre speaker connected. I went ahead and tried this anyway thinking I might be able to trick the tv by just connecting a power link cable. However this wasn't neccasary as it work fine with just the 3500. When asking my. B and o shop they said that they hadn't tried it its just what they had been told.

Thanks again

2012martin, if you need the names and numbers of some engineers who can install a module and software update your BV7, please drop me a PM.  We use 8 or 9 different engineers across the UK when and where needed, who are all B&O approved and very competent.

I can also recommend some European and Asian service centres who have done some great work for us if you're outside of the UK.  Like every trade in the world, there are good ones and bad ones..
