Hi,

I am still trying to workout the best solution for one of my living rooms.

I would like to have the attached setup, but one questions comes up.

Using the BeoCenter 2 as "main" center to the Beolab 5, then everything must be fine. Adding a switch in between to get Sonos (with flac files) and my MacMini (with all my CD's) as additional sources - how will the Beolab 5 react to this ?

Will the Beolab 5 be able to power up from the Beocenter 2 and then I change source on the switch and for example using the Sonos as source. Using the powerlink from the BC 2 to the BL 5 - is that the control signal to use functions like volume up/down, switch the BL 5 on/off and maybe more...(I could buy a BC2 and try, but still an expensive solution just to try)

I just bought a digital auto sense switch from Audio Authority model 1177A-1 to act as the switch in my setup - but this did not work, as some of the sources like the MacMini could not kill the carrier even though I stopped the music, so I will probably use the Samsung switch suggested by CB in another message.

Actually I am surprised that B&O supply the BL 90 (and for the BL 5 as well) without having a nice Beocenter with digital out and several digital in's to supply the best quality. The Moment can not do this and the Essence have the same problem - so what's left.

Well, then we need to be innovative to make this - but loosing the common Beolink setup for this room.

But, back to the question - does anyone know how this would work - using my attached setup ??

Thanks - Rudi

Hi Rudi,

I understand that you don't want to change the BL5 mode.

I'm not quite sure if I use the right words here, but I think that, in this case, the BL5 need to receive a "CD" signal on the Powerlink to read what's sent on the digital line. So only powering on the BC2 may not be sufficient. You'll need to play a CD also...

You may also encounter some troubles to set the volume by changing it differently on several source.

To be confirmed by someone else.
