Viewing iPlayer on my Humax Foxsat HDR last night and got the message that the service will no longer be available on that device from September. Seems BBC is no longer supporting a variety of older Freesat boxes and a few Freeview ones. Full list of affected hardware here

I do enjoy this future where firmware dictates the longevity of the product.... Wonder if this will happen to say a Tesla owner.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

If only the Tesla had PUC control, it could then use almost any electric /gearbox combination (approved by Tesla of course) with the aid of a bolt on engine/gearbox arrangement from STB Brackets.

Sch a waste of hardware - streaming from a phone or tablet to a device seems to be a bit more future proof but not as convenient!

Had the same thing when I bought a Sony DVD player only to find out that a year later it was obsolete and I had to buy another one to watch a streaming service I wanted, then something else got taken off that one so I bought an LG that could get Netflix, Lovefilm and iPlayer - then Lovefilm got taken off - have given up and just use Apple TV now. I tried a NowTV box last week as they are so cheap but had problems streaming the iPlayer. I was tempted to upgrade the Apple TV to the newer one for iPlayer, but as they are going to charge for that and I watch so little BBC I decided better to just stick with the one I have and buy any series in the future that I want,

Received that message and so changed humax stb to hdr1100s and now cannot use tv, beovision 7, because it switches itself off after a few seconds. Humax blame the tv so have no reception at present.

HI Chris,

I saw your separate post about your control problems with the HDR110s. Have you resolved them? And if you did, perhaps you could share which PUC set you are using? I may also go this route but don't want to lose control of the box!
