My 'new' B&O 4500 record turntable arrived today, via an ebay purchase. Excellent condition with a MMC2 fitted.
I hooked it up to my B&O 4500 Beomaster and there is a big problem. The turntable won't turn!
If I remove the silver platter, the deck spins for a short while, which is correct. If the platter is re-fitted the deck won't turn. It's as if the weight of the platter is too great to enable any movement.
I've put a 7" single on the deck, without the silver platter and the arm and stylus function and play perfectly. Trying the same with an LP doesn't work, as again, the weight of the album causes the deck not to turn.
The turntable does not spin freely when the silver platter is fitted and requires some effort to move it.
I have fully undone the transit bolts but obviously I'm at a loss as to what's causing the issue. Any suggestions would be welcome
