This is purely a lighthearted and capricious question, but none the less I would very much welcome an answer.

I was given a BeoCenter 9000 retrieved from a recycle facility that had amongst other issues, a problem with the CD player refusing to accept various CD’s. As time progressed, this problem grew worse.

In spite of the difficulty I refused to give up and continued to press the BeoCenter to play different CD’s.

Over the course of a month I noticed that the BeoCenter 9000 was having less and less difficulty in playing CD’s. In fact I don’t remember the last CD it refused to play and any track as well without hesitation.

I understand that electronic do not “heal” but has anyone else ever experienced a renaissance like this? And if so, how long did it last?

As the cognoscenti in our group must have anticipated, my renaissance announcement was a bit premature as my BeoCenter 9000 still decides which CD will play and which it won’t.

True, with use the “playable” list has expanded, but ever so often I am still finding CD’s that will only play certain tracks and occasionally with distorted sound.

Fortunately, for now, the 9000 is willing and able to play most CD’s and it plays them well.

In all probabilty you need to replace C2103 on the CD Servo board which is the pcb fixed to the underside of the CD mechanism.

There is info on the old archived database if you search "C2103"

Hi Graham,

Yes I know the C2103 cap is going bad, but with a good deal of use, the "issue" has improved dramatically.

I never thought the problem was solved, only put off a bit. So for now I will suffer with this hit and miss situation.

If this 9000 "wants" to play a disc it will and that is 90% of them, but if it doesn't prodding helps but not in all cases.
