Hello,

I've just bought an old Beovision 6 22 on eBay with the intention of sticking it in the kitchen with a Virgin box and controlling both with the Beo4.

I've mounted it on the wall and it looks great, and I have to say that the sound is fantastic for a small tv. The cable box is on the other side of the room from the tv, so I've plumbed everything in, including the IR extension cable, only to find that when I plug the IR plug into the back of the tv there doesn't seem to be anything behind the hole that says IR.

I wondered if anyone knew if these sets were actually fitted with this socket, or is the hole on the case just a blank? I'm loathe to take the back off to find out because things have a habit of never working again once I've fiddled with 'em.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Thank you,

David

David,

There are many of these sets about that were sold second hand after a refit by many of the upmarket London hotels. There were 22,23 and 26 in models and were fitted with a security system which used the IR socket to send out a continuous signal to avoid theft . You can tell if your set was such a model if you look under the loudspeaker grill and on the label next to ACC it states BtB . I doubt if you could get a replacement socket now(which is plugged into a socket on a circuit board)

Good point Ron, best way to be sure is for David to look at the 4 digit Type number. 9209, 9210 and 9211 were for hotels

Ah, interesting. I've just checked under the grill. There is nothing next to the ACC and it is a model: 9202 - so there will hopefully be a socket lurcking beneath the cover somewhere.

Now do I dare risk wrecking it by having a look (I don't have a great track record with fiddling)

Thank you both for the info.

David
