I have decided to replace my Beolab 9s with a pair of Beolab 20s. I have a friend who is interested in buying my 9s.
He has a question about using them with a Parasound preamp. The preamp has rca out and amp triggers. Can he get rid of the amp he has, and run the rica cable from the Parasound preamp to the Beolab 9?
The preamp has tv, bluray and iPod connector connected it to it.
The preamp controls the volume.
And if that will work, will the Beolab 9s go into standby when the preamp is turned off?
Thanks

Well, he definitely won't need the amp, since the BL9 is active. Since his preamp has amp triggers he should be able to get a cable set from Steve at Sounds Heavenly for example that connects to the PowerLink on one end and the RCA and preamp trigger at the preamp end. That would be the proper way to do it. One way or another he'll need an RCA to PL adapter cable as the 9s don't have an RCA input jack. While the BL9 will autosense and power on when there's a signal, the best way to do it is using the amp trigger so it operates identically to how it would when connected to a Beosound.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Thanks. It has been so long since I connected the Beolab 9s, I forgot that they did not have an rca connection. I was thinking of the connections on Beolab 4000s.
When I got mine I was kind of surprised there wasn't an RCA jack too, but then it's a needless expense when they sell RCA to PL cables. I've only used the RCA jacks on my BL8000s once, while my BS9000 was in the shop, to connect it to my iPod so I could have tunes in the interim until the BS9000 got back. It may seem odd to delete something that cheap from a $12K a pair speaker, but shaving every penny off production costs is done just about no matter the expense of the product.
