Hi,

Just want to know if any Beolab 2 owner came across the following issue and what's his take on the situation...

I own a 2001 Beolab 2 which have been delivering as a charm since then. It is connected via the SUB1 powerlink socket of a Beosystem3 and is part of a 5.1 setup.

Yesterday I noticed while watching a movie that the led was red. I changed the powerlink cable and also made some tests by switching to another configured powerlink socket in the beosystem3, same effect..

There's is a signal going from the powerlink to the SUB : Upon mains/powerlink plug/unplug the led turns greens but goes red immediately and of course there's no sound coming from the sub.

I'm quiet confident it is not an issue with the Beosystem3 but the beolab 2 itself. I read the service manual and one faulty part  could be the electric chassis.

Could you share your experience if you came across this issue ?

Thanks a lot.

P.S : It's not a thermal protection situation either... I unplugged from the mains and waited 12 hours before conducting the tests...

I'd try switching everything off that is connected and then switching everything on again.  A re-boot of one of the other components in the system may fix it.

Dave.

Thanks for the tip. I had no success with a full reset. I don't know if the Beolab 2 is end of life (spare parts wise...).

recheck all cables are fully seated in position.  Loose connections can give odd results like this.  It's been seen in BL8000's and 6000's here.

You could always try bypassing the Beosystem 3, using a different PL cable and coming in straight from a different audio master. Beolab 2 parts should still be readily available. It was a mainstay of the B&O lineup for a long time.

I just started having a similar problem with my BL2 - did you ever get this fixed?

I have been looking thru the service manual (not that I am excited about taking it apart or shipping it for service) - but wonder if it is a blown fuse?
