Radio Paradise, which is ad free but relies on donations, has put out new donation requests because of the increased royalties that now have to be paid to artists. 

Regrettably, this is the way the markets work. There will be a price equilibrium and then a tendency for a winner/ monopoly to emerge. Small stations like RP will keep going until the owner gets an offer he can't refuse. Artists may not actually  enjoy increased royalty income if overall streaming sales /broadcasts decline. The rest is just a Google- Apple fight.
