Hello,
Has anyone found out how to control who can access Spotify connect on the Essence mk2? The problem is that anyone who has been to my house and accessed the Wifi and used Spotify connect can then, days later, from their home without access to my Wifi, still control Spotify connect and play songs to their great amusement :) Airplay can be password protected and only works when the device is connected to the same Wifi.
Cheers!
That is an interesting problem and one I would not have thought would exist. But I did an experiment this morning and turned the wifi off on my phone. The Beomusic app would not work as it must be on the same network. But then I opened up the Spotify app and was very surprised to see that even using cellular data, it still saw the Essence and allowed me to select it as a source.

How did your guests get access to your Spotify account?

There is a tv - and there is a BV
I did a quick search online for this problem. There were some results discussing similar problems.
And welcome to Beoworld !
Is it possible to change your Spotify user account password (on Spotify web site) ?
Or better, to disconnect all devices from within your account on the Spotify web site ?
As soon as they access my Wifi and use the Spotify app on their own devices they can choose to play via Spotify Connect to the Essence.
I encountered the same (or I suppose, opposite) problem today - after testing spotify connect functionality (specifically which multiroom products can join a spotify connect session) in store today, I had a long list of products still showing as available devices within the spotify app when I returned home.
It does seem that any spotify connect enabled device will save / cache the login credentials of any (or the most recent?) spotify account to utilise the spotify connect functionality.
Given I was no longer in the store, I couldn't investigate whether a reset of each product would resolve this, but I did manage to resolve it remotely by logging into spotify on my laptop, opting to log out all devices, then changing my spotify account password to prevent the store products being able to log back in again.
Obviously this is not an option for you as you wont have access to the spotify account(s) in question, but hopefully a reset of the essence will work.
This does seem like a rather glaring issue with the way that spotify connect functions though! (although in fairness to B&O, it looks to be more of a spotify issue than a B&O specific issue...
Martin.
I found a long thread about this problem over att Spotify, https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Accounts-and-Subscriptions/Can-I-delete-a-Spotify-Connect-device-from-the-list/m-p/1392518/highlight/false#M212870 but no reply from Spotify themselves, I have contacted them separetely via the form on their website, awaiting reply.
I think the log out from all devices is the best solution yet.
