I have been an owner of some S45's for quite some time.  I wanted my son who went off to college to have a nice pair of speakers to use in his apartment.  He loved the speakers and they worked great for him.  Unfortunately, during the move back home for the summer the cables were lost.

I've been looking online for replacements and am having some difficulty finding what I need.  I don't need the whole cable with the male 2 pin DIN on one end and the female 2 pin DIM plug on the other.  All I am looking for is the female DIN plug that I can place into the speaker.

I have found 2 din female plugs but they are not specific to B&O.  Are all 2 pin female DIN plugs the same?

I have tried to email B&O with no luck.  I called their service department only to be told that they are busy and leave a message which I did.  I have not heard back.  Also called the closet dealer near me (400 + miles away in Illinois)) and asked if they can help.  Was called back but they don't have an answer but has promised to call B&O and get back to me.  I have no doubt they will call back, just seeing if I can find some answers on my own while I wait.

So, can anyone direct me to a place where I can buy these plugs?  Found one place that wants $39.50/pair.  Female 2 pin DINS can be found online for $0.25 but I don't know if they will fit.  Look like they will but not sure.

Thanks for the help.

Mark

Something like this or this? The 2 pin DIN speaker jacks and plugs with the spade and post prongs should all be the same size. They were used in BMW radio harnesses during the 80's as well. My favorite are the molded jacks and plugs that are on the original B&O speaker cables. However, I have had to make some for myself using plugs and jacks you find online. There are differences in the quality of the plugs though and some have screw mounts for the wires while others require soldering. I still solder my speaker wires to the screw mount type. If you decide to build the cable yourself be sure and check the actual cost of plugs ...including shipping.

Thanks for he answers. I'm in Minnesota. We have a fairly well known speaker repair place near me and they said they could figure out something. Don't like that answer.

The plugs shown on the two eBay links are what I am looking for. And the one link for the company that starts with a "V" I did find online but was unsure if these plugs would fit. I have found what was meant as far as shipping and all. Found the plugs for $0.25 each but they have minimum order qnty of $50 or want to charge a ton in shipping.

Once again, thanks for he response. Sincerely appreciated.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forum! I have both the male plugs and female socket available (with screw terminals for easy fitting), there is no minimum order quantity!  Please drop me a line via my website at www.soundsheavenly.com and I will be pleased to assist.

Kind regards, Steve.

Hey Mark, I'm here in St. Paul and have some extra plugs you can have if you want to stop by.

I probably have females as well that I will never use, but they may be attached to some length of wire. I can check the "bitz box" if you'd like.

Good Day -

Forgive me for not thanking everyone for the help on this issue and the final resolution.

I ended up meeting Peter in downtown St. Paul (what a nice area he lives in) who gave me a pair of extra plugs he had available.  These were solder type and looked easy enough for my son to handle (much better at soldering than am I).  After I met with Peter I travelled to a speaker repair place to get some grille foam for another pair of speaker I had laying around home.  During this discussion, I mentioned how hard it is to find proper plugs for the S-45's and that someone was kind enough to give me a pair for free.  He wanted to see what they looked like so I handed them over.  When he opened up on e f the plugs, a pin broke.  Can you believe it.

I called ABT electronics (Or was it Abes?) who was listed on the B&O site as a qualified seller/repair place closest to me.  Person I spoke with was very helpful and said he could sell me a pair of plugs for what I thought was a fair price.  2 weeks later I had a pair of screw terminal plugs and have got my S-45's up and running again and buy do they sound good.

Thanks again for the help and kindness.  It was sincerely appreciated.

Mark

I was making an extension speaker cable set the week after we met and had two of those Female plugs break on me. I had wondered if your son had better luck than I did.

Cheap plugs, never again.
