Just wanted to check what the most basic/cheap product is that can wake me up in the morning.  I've not had an alarm clock for a few years but my little boy (20 months old) is starting to wake up later so I need to go back to technology :) for that sort of a thing

Anyway, without buying a fancy full hifi system, what's the cheapest B&O setup (likely from the past) that I can have wake me up with some radio first thing?

What about a modern B&O Beotime, use the remote feature to turn on a Beosound 1, or Beosound Century?, or use it as a stand alone alarm clock

Or a B&O / Samsung Serenata phone. You can get the really cheap and it's small enough for the night stand.

Why not have another baby? That should do the trick.

If you can find a beomaster 5500 tuner/amp it has an alarm and radio function. Probably can find one on eBay for a hundred bucks.

I use a BS3. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't show the time while playing music. Some complain that you have to set it nightly, but I like this because it guarantees that it will not wake up my wife when I am out of town. Nor will it wake me up early on the weekends because I forgot to turn it off. It also has a battery so no worries if the power should happen to go out (actually happened once).

the only problem in  my experience with the Beotime is that the clock seems to lose time and the batteries run out with no real warning,

BV6-26 connected to my BM6500 in the study and internet radio - I get to wake up to 1960's french pop music every day!
