I have one audio master in my study that I use everyday but have a beosystem 6500 that in view of the low prices i decided to keep and use in my sitting room as a second system - I have BL8000s in there connected to a beolink active to the main system. I seem to remember that the second system can be setup to respond to link commands but don;t know how to do this and can't find it in the manuals - can anyone tell me how to do this please?

Close, except I would have 3 IR eyes in the same room - if I set the Beomaster to A.Opt 0 it will disable the IR eye which would be a step closer but I would have two Audio systems whereas what I want is for the Beosystem to be able to be accessed using Link and then Radio or CD or A.Mem? Maybe it's not possible?

... and don't forget that you can also set the Active to different Option settings, so that could respond to LINK only.

Thanks, yes I wondered about that but the problem there is that I have the main system linked through to my bedroom kitchen and study so I would have to change all those to Link which would be a pain

I don't understand why the others would have to change to link?  Each Active can be set up separately.

Hi - I should probably have explained the system a bit better - it's complicated!

My main system (sort of) consists of a beolink converter which is linked to a lintronic converter to provide control of an Internet Radio and additional inputs (Boscom AUx expander) - so when I press Radio I get the internet radio receiver and control this with a Beo4, Cd selects airplay and A.Mem my Revox which has a BG6000 also connected - that equipment is in the study ina cupboard with an additional Beolink Active to deliver the sound to a pair of Penta's. It works perfectly. In my bedroom I have a BV6-26, Kitchen 6-22 and living room BLactive connected to BL8000's and a BV8 - all of it is linked and I can play internet radio or stream music or whatever is on the reel to reel or turntable everywhere.

I am now wondering if I can use my Beosystem 6500 which I want to have on display in the sitting room and access it from anywhere using Link commands - this would give me addition secondary sources such as FM radio, CD and Cassette? If I can;t it's not the end of the world but it would be nice if I could still use the old system. I want to keep the put together solution above as the main sources as it works so well

Ah, that makes more sense!

I reckon that the BS6500 should connect OK to the ML system if you make use of another BeoLink Converter and connect to the TV/AUX socket of the BM6500.  Then just patch it into your ML system in parallel. If the BM system has its own speakers then no Powerlink connection is required.

 However:

- I am not sure what Option setting you would need the BM to be set in: It is able to accept Options 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4.  The on-site BM6500 service manual has a good description of these options.

- I am not sure whether the other Beolink converter would confuse the ML system because in effect you would have two audiomasters.

- I'm not sure what reprogramming of the Lintronic may be required in order to ensure that sources do not 'clash' between rooms.

But there's lots of room for experimentation if you get another BeoLink converter (or even temporarily 'repurpose' the one that you have).  Just make sure that you unplug everything from the power when making connections.

And (as an aside) I don't see why you need a BL Active in the living room.  If the BV8 is connected to the ML system, then you can simply connect the BL8000s direct to the TV's Powerlink sockets.

Hi - yes, I have a go - I did have the speakers connected to the TV but the TV is in a cabinet so I couldn't use the speakers without opening the doors - shame though as it would have meant less wiring -I will have a play with it all as I am sure I can get it working somehow or other...

Ah, that makes sense now!  Not many B&O TVs get put in cabinets!

Good luck with the experimentation!
