I have a Beogram CD7000 which I am using as a CDtransport only (Sound is courtesy of a Woodside DVAC18 DAC). It is a lovely piece of kit with excellent sound.

Most of the time I listen to CDs in their entirety, but occasionallyI would like to have some more sophisticated ways of navigating a CD: it would be good to be able to skip backwards a few seconds or an entire track (especially since I am learning to play the electric bass by the help of a CD-Based DIY  course).

Can that be done with a standalone Beogram CD7000 and, say, the Beolink 7000?

Unfortunately not. The only way to get more control over the CD7000 (same with 5500,6500 too) is to connect it to a Beomaster.

Dammit!,

Is there no-one who does third-party remotes? There used to be someone on E-bay who did this for Nakamichi and Revox taperecorders....

Not that I'm aware of. The Beogram CD doesn't have any IR circuitry at all and gets its commands from the Beomaster over the datalink cable.

Someone in the US made an IR receiver/remote control for Nakamichi and Revox tape recorders (I have one for my LX5). I was hoping that there might be something like that for the Beo-CDs
