Hello Beoworld

My son has recently bought a V1. In his kitchen he has two passive in-wall speakers.

Is there a low-cost way to connect these speakers to the V1?

I was thinking of buying a second hand Beolink Passive. Can I connect the V1 powerlink output to the Beolink powerlink input? Based on some older threads in this forum, I think this should work. However, it would be great if someone could confirm this solution or point me into another direction.

Since the solution should be fairly low-cost, I don't want to buy a NL/ML converter.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Jan

Create a Speakers Group that consists of only the BeoLink amp and the in-wall speakers.

Choose this, if only the speaker/the in-Wall speakers should be used.

Make another Speakers Group, that includes both the speakers of the V1 and the amp/in-wall speakers, if he want sound from both.

All controlling (including volume level) - of course - will have to be made via the V1.

Limited solution - but certainly a low-cost solution.

That's indeed the plan. So, my assumption that you can connect a V1 and a Beolink Passive via powerlink is correct?

Would I still be able to use the infra-red eye for volume up/volume down?

Theoretically it should work fine to use the IR-eye volume buttons because they only function at your passive.

Don't forget to add 'line' for speaker type in the speaker connector on your V1 menu. So that the V1's volume control is not used anymore on the assigned power link outlets and you get a real line-out.

I do not know if your passive goes also to standby if you set the V1 to standby, but I presume it will using the correct cable.

As Chris writes: if you want to use the BeoLink Passive with the ir-eye (and local volume control), you will have to set the V1 output (the PL/Speaker Group) to line.

But do rember, that you will have to start the playback (including choosing the Speaker Group) via the V1.

My suggestion was to use the BL Passive solely as an amp - in order to simplify the control of the setup.

Are your V1 and the speakers in the kitchen far apart?

I am pretty sure, that it won't go to standby, since it (in case of using it with the ir eye) is a seperate system.
