Hi,
I have a few (5) beolink Passives and I would like to start using them with my ML Gateway - but the software on four of them is v1.4 - and 1.3 on the other one.
I really have three questions;
1. Can you get a software upgrade from a dealer/supplier (I guess with all this old kit, a software upgrade is really a hardware change...)
2. Is it easy to fit (I've updated a Lab 3500 before and that was reasonably easy
3. Any idea on how much it would cost per unit?
Thanks in advance
Hi
I've done this 2 times, it's a chip change and its very easy. My dealer ordered the chip for me and I did it myself. The Price was OK not sure anymore what it was around 100€
Any idea where the chip goes? Anyone have instructions?

It's the complete microprocessor module that is replaced as the individual chips inside are not socketed (this also explains why it is more expensive than many of the software upgrades for other products which are often supplied as bare PROMs
If you've looked inside the passive it's the foil box that connects to the rest of the unit via a flat ribbon connector that you'll be replacing.
Martin.
Ah yes,
Down under the main PCB. Not that easy to get to, but I can get the module out by unscrewing the main PCB board and lifting it a bit which allows me access to the module. I've opened the clips on one side of the foil box on the existing module which has allowed me to pull out the top part of the module - reason for doing this is that the module seems to be glued to the heatsink and I can just take the bottom off the new module and install it using the (in place) foil box bottom without having to worry about heat, glue etc.
