Good Evening

This is my first post as I'm new to all thing B&O however I have the opportunity to get a Beocentre 2800 and need to know if you can play 45rpm 12" records with it?

I'm yet to view it to see what condition it is in and wondered if there are any particular known faults to look out for.

If I go for it It will be used with a pair of Kef shelf speakers, nothing too extravagant, just some music in the sitting room, willl it suit this purpose?

One final question, what is it worth approximately?

thanks for any replies in advance and apologies if this should have been posted in another topic section.

Yes you can but it will entail moving the arm manually to the start of the record - press 45, then pause, then move arm then play.  Don't see them around that much - essentially a Beomaster 1500 with a Beogram 1500 on top. Both a good items. This is a piece of electronics that is now nearly 40 years old - any other make would be put in a skip! If it works perfectly and has a decent stylus, I suppose £100 would be top price. To be fair, they are often bought for the cartridge and the rest thrown away (sacrilege I know!)

It will fulfill the task you have outlined perfectly - the Beomaster 1500 shares the amplifier design of the 4400 in many ways - and that was possibly the best amplifier/ tuner made by B&O.

Thanks for the reply Peter,

I'm pleased it will do the job however the asking price is double what you've put.

Is there a similar "all in one" unit you would suggest I look for for around £200?

The best Beocenters of the vinyl era are the 7000 series - one on ebay here as an example - not sure what it will go for - the 7700 was the very best of them.

Prices seem a lot higher at the minute - maybe after Xmas! Car boot sales are also a rich vein if you can be bothered!

Don't be tempted by the 2000, 2200 etc - made in Japan and nothing like the same.
