Transcoding on re: BM5 - good for Netlink?

When I rec'd my Essence 1, I was and am still using my Bm5 as the NAS. I had to turn transcoding on in order to have all my WMA files available for my Essence.

My question is: Does having the transcoding turned on make those same files compatible with new Netlink products, like a BS2?
