I recently picked up a HDR2 and connected it to my BV7-40 MKII, I have a Sky+ HD box connected via scart to the HDR2 and the HDR2 via scart to  AV1 (v.mem.)

The picture quality seems generally very poor (I realise I won’t get HD through scart) and also I have no obvious way of getting the Sky programme information to select.

Has anybody played around the settings to improve the picture quality and/or any advice on getting the programme info to appear, if actually possible?

Thanks

The HDR2 sends only composite from the Sky+ through to the BV7. If RGB was used it would make a difference.

More settopboxen do not send the program information (Teletext?) over scart/composite. For that you have to use the text function from the settop instead.

But why didn't you connect the Sky+ directlly to the BV7? That way the videoquality will be much better.

Thanks beobuddy.

At some point I may cancel sky, so although I do use sky+ on a normal basis I wanted to keep a ton of kid’s programmes - hence the HDR2, which I picked up very cheaply.

I have seen in the updated manual that I shouldn’t need to connect the Sky box to the HDR2 but I can’t see how this would work – could it be a software thing?  When I checked the manual for the MKII it only mentions the HDR1?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Just borrowing an existing thread. Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the HDR2 with a digital video broadcasting (DVB) module? What I am aiming at is the possibility to avoid the extra D/A - A/D conversion of an external set-top box which basically ruins picture quality.

I've been playing around with an HDR2 since i got a BV9 and i've now removed it from the TV because it is honestly an utterly useless, oversized and antiquated piece of equipment. It has been replaced with an inexpensive hard drive connected to the HD set top box i use with the TV. The HDR2 now sits under my BV3-32 where it now has some sort of acceptable use at least, but still, it puts out the wrong Format signal to the TV (annoying?).
