I have a TiVo and Apple TV connected via HDMI to my BV7 in the living room. Problem is, I can't see these sources in the link room; DVD and Freeview from the BV7 come over fine.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks Smile

Not sure that you are doing anything wrong !  There has always been the constraint that video and/or audio link rooms rely on analogue signals -- or at least that is my perception.

I presume you are only interested in a video link room since you mention TIVO and ATV as sources.

My link rooms are either audio reached via Beolink Wireless or video reached by a combined masterlink and RF cables.

I also have the B&O RF repeater/amplifier black box attached to the primary TV -- and I am still experimenting with that: I have it operate with TV and DTV.

Because of my perception of limitations I simply have a second Apple TV in the link room.  At $99 I think this is an economical solution (the B&O RF black box was 5X that) and more functional (different content in different rooms).

Digital sources cannot be distributed to linkrooms. Only analogue sources. This is the limitation of (wireless) masterlink.

You can use a convertor (e.g. GefenTV) for the digital signals, only sound. No pictures.

What about a Playmaker for the sound in linkrooms? Airplay and DLNA supported, but still no video, only audio.

Hmmmm. I get digital audio from my Apple TV generation 1 via optical cable into my Avant, which is connected via ML to the ML to MCL converter, to a BS 4500, and thence to a link room. It works fine.

I was always told that digital sources, connected via HDMI, could not be distributed to a linkroom with ML. This also does not work in my setup. Only when the Beovision is on, but that is not what I want. According to your solution, the Beovision (Avant) is off/standby and sound distribution works in linkrooms.

Will try your solution with an extra digital coaxcable. Thanx for your experience.

So I guess we've established devices attached to the master over HDMI won't distribute over the master link network. For the ATV the a solution might just be to buy another.

The TiVo has the option to output via HDMI and scart simultaneously I think. Surely there must therefore be a way to share the signal?

We have the TiVo 320GB unit connected to a BV7 via HDMI -> DVI and optical audio out. It is also connected via the component cables and a SCART to RCA connector on the back of the BV7. This connection is distributed via master link and it all works well.

We do the same with an ATV1 using ATV Flash software.

Hope this helps.

I believe the SCART will be analogue, so therefore it should be achievable.

You need the master BV to be able to relay the signal - in my case the output RF port is packaged with the ML in a system module.

Do you currently have such a module/output RF port on your BV ?

Ummm I'm not quite following what you mean by a module. The BV7 is a mark III and has a RF output. This must be working as my link Tv receives free view and DVD from the main BV7

Your sources that are workin in link rooms are currently connected by analoge signal. Therefore the BV7 distrubutes the on RF out. Sources that are connected only by digital signal (HDMI) are not distrubuted on RF out. If you want to distribute then to link rooms you have to connect them using both digital (for local viewing) and analog (for link room distribution)  signals.

I thought the same, only analogue sources are being distributed although surely the built in DVD player in the BV7 is digital. Anyway, the DVD is being distributed so no worries there.

Can I ask:

1. Does the Virgin Media TiVo definitely chuck out a digital (HDMI) and analogue (SCART) signal simultaneously. I know my old V+ box did but this one doesn't seem to have any options to enable/disable different types of connection. It does have options to enable resolutions from 576 all the way up to 1080, and I've made sure all are selected.

2. How do I set this up. I've pugged in the SCART, then gone through the 'connections' option on the BV and mapped it to 'DVD2'. When I select 'DVD2' on my Beo4 I get a blank screen even though the TiVo is definitely switched on.

Cheers

Yes the DVD uses digital Media but is connected via analog signal

Is that the same if you have an internal Blu-Ray player in your BV7?

Yes, the internal Bluray player is also digital and analogue connected in BV 7, so you can watch blurays in linkrooms (of course analogue and not HD quality).

If you want to watch your digital devices in linkrooms, you have to connect them digital (via HDMI) AND analogue (via Scart).

If you watch the devices on BV 7, the digital connection is used automaticly. The analogue connection is only used for distribution to linkrooms.

The device must be able to offer the signal both via his digital AND analogue output.

Hope this helps.
